10-DAY EXTENSIVE FACETING PROGRAMS
Our 10-Day Extensive Faceting Programs are designed for students who are dedicated to learning how to cut gems and want to fast-track their success as a career professional or top-level artist. At the completion of the total 8-week program, each student is granted a certificate from AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF GEMCUTTING. The four programs when combined offer the student a firm foundation for self-employment, or employment by an industry professional. Tuition cost includes machines, tools, and all gemstone material needed to complete the course.

To introduce the beginner student to the art of gemcutting and a basic knowledge of its history, optical and physical properties, and crystalline forms

To teach the student how to saw, preform, and facet common gemstone designs - emphasizing theory, application and practice.

To develop the student to a level where they can facet a well made round brilliant gemstone from a rough-state to the finished product, without supervision or assistance.

To continue the training of the beginner student and introduce them to methods for maximizing the yield of the finished gem; when cutting from rough and re-cutting damaged/broken gems

To strengthen their understanding of market value for various minerals, and how to cut or re-cut them in a way that maximizes resale potential

To develop the student’s level to where they can repair a damaged or broken stone with minimal material loss, without assistance or supervision

To continue the training of the intermediate student and introduce them to methods for designing and optimizing custom faceting diagrams

To strengthen their understanding of critical angle, brilliance and refraction, and compositional design of faceted gemstones .

To develop the student’s level to where they can build a custom faceting diagram, optimize the design, and cut the gemstone in a time-efficient and yield-efficient manner, without assistance or supervision

To prepare the student who has completed the advanced level, to further become proficient in every technique involved in the design and manufacture of gemstones

To teach the student how to buy gemstones in the rough and cut state; and strengthen their understanding of how color, clarity and shape affect prices

To bring the student to develop and attain the confidence and skills necessary for self-employment, or employment by an industry professional

Upon successfully completing the level 4 program, Graduates will be granted a certificate, and begin receiving paid-contract offers for performing trade-work with their newly acquired skills
MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Bryan D. Drummond is an award winning gemcutter and goldsmith based in Las Vegas, Nevada. His recent notable accomplishments include being in the Artist Spotlight of the highly coveted Patek Phillipe: The Magazine (Volume V, Number 7), and earning first place in the AGTA Spectrum and Cutting Edge Awards (Innovative Faceting, 2023).​
Bryan takes a very methodical approach to his craft - always seeking to understand not only the how’s, but also the why’s. He offers instruction with this same mindset - making it easy for students to lock-in new knowledge, and apply it creatively towards their own ideas and projects.​
